Adventures in Sydneyland: Part 4

So, today was a bit of a whirlwind day. We've gotten so much done today thanks to the great help of fearless leader Tim Newton from The Spin and our two temp marketing monkeys, er interns Shaun and Bryce. We're probably half a day ahead of schedule now.

From the top, we sat scoped out the broadcast site with Bobby Goldsmith Foundation CEO Bev Lange. It's a great space that will give our broadcasters line of sight well above the rest of the crowd. We will, of course, still be wedged between about 500,000 people, which will make for excitingly loud and whistle filled radio. We have to thank BGF profusely, as the site we're broadcasting from is far superior to last year's where we grabbed a few milk crates and strung a telephone from a large tree!

On the design front, both of our Australia's are now water proof and Tasmania has been restored to it's proper location (which is not Shaun's crotch area, oh the horror that state has had to endure).

Meanwhile, our twinset radios are looking better than ever too and have been pumping out Ice-Ice-Baby all day and inspired Bryce to get all ghetto on us.

Shaun and Tim went shopping and picked up plenty of necessary supplies as well as some fun toys. Our giant inflatable microphones are visually outstanding, cost next to nothing and have lead to some sweet serenading from Bryce. We've enjoyed more Vanilla Ice and also some Dionne Warwick tunes as well, like Do You Know The Way To San Jose? which was apparently a great hit in Tim's era.

We're not sure about Bryce's potential as an Australian Idol, but Shaun would certainly make a great Mr. Gay Australia. He's certainly got all the assets for it, for example a Big Banana, but please don't ask about his Sunshine Coast or about his Bungle Bungles.

We've got all the talking bubbles cut out, which somehow also magically left Bryce speechless for the first time in what seems like an eternity. It seemed like the last laugh was on us though. Silent, but deadly. Fortunately, we have a ventilated working space.

The station callsign letters will be arriving tomorrow and so too will the print outs for the placards. We pull out the glitter bags and glitter everything (yes, I know... I relented. Can I just say I was so pissed off that Shaun just walked into a shop and right under his nose was a half kilo of sliver glitter. Last year it took us 4 days of searching to find 100g!). Then Jade (who arrives from Melbourne in the afternoon) and I are off to record my show The Fool and The Opera live from the Sydney Opera House. It'll be our first free night all week and we'll be seeing The Magic Flute.

Oh, I almost forgot the most important thing at Mardi Gras the BIG, BIG flashy lights. We picked up some pretty powerful ones that we tested tonight and got some pretty amazing shots.

Wow!
