Lets admit it, it been a fantastic fourteen years. How we wish it wasn't so, but as the saying goes "all good things must come to an end" and this is what will be happening this Saturday June 4 at 1pm when the dynamic duo from The Matinee will be presenting their last 2 hours and then hanging up their headphones for the last time.The Matinee is only exceeded by The News and matched by Allegro Non Troppo as the longest running program on JOY 94.9. Indeed for almost a decade and a half this 2-hour show has treated and listeners ears to an incredibly eclectic mix of trash, treasure, trance and dance in a conveniently split show format - part history lesson, part throbbing nightclub. Even after all these years, the question of "Which is trash? Which is treasure?" remains and there will be many, many listeners who will certainly miss the ritual of having weekend debates to decide which is which. The show certainly managed to present the most unique two halves ever combined; musical treasures and trance. Whoever thought that Connie Francis and Armin Van Buuren would go hand in hand? But, Mark and Kaz made it work.
